Respite for New Beginnnings

Garden ViewOver the last four years we have been providing respite care for people from a variety of backgrounds to simply relax, experience the delights of Mid Wales, and have the opportunity to reflect on their personal circumstances in their own way and in their own time. The Thomas Shop, Mid Wales, is a place where Carers can be offered respite, through having a break themselves away from the caring role, or where they can come as a family, to find respite together. We are however not a ‘registered care home’ and while we are happy to provide a respite break for individual people with a disability, they need to be fully independent, emotionally and physically.
The Thomas Shop is a home from home with a very special atmosphere. We cater for all diets and meals are shared with the family. The Thomas Shop is part of the heritage of Mid-Wales. You can enjoy our Shop-Museum, book into craft or cultural events that may be happening within the site during your visit. We are situated in beautiful countryside on the banks of the River Ithon and this provides a setting for sanctuary and retreat. Some people who come to the Thomas Shop do so to pursue a specialist interest such as reading, writing, walking, painting, fishing, bird-watching and we are happy to help you to make the best use of your time and to enjoy Mid Wales to the full.
Rates for Respite Care are based upon the Guest House Rates which are listed on the Tariff Page, plus a respite supplement of £50 per stay..
Here is what some people and their carers have said about their respite stay at The Thomas Shop in Mid Wales:
“Thank-you both for the wonderful experience, the time, peace, food and knowledge. I have gained so much from spending time with you both.”
“Not very good with words so, Thank-you, Thank-you, Thank-you!”
“So much love here, so much creativity, colour, pattern, style, deliciousness. I was spread very thinly when I arrived, but time here has given me strength and hope!”
